Beauty Favorites of 2017

Since I was a young girl I always enjoyed playing around with makeup. I've gone through just about every phase a girl can go through... blue lip gloss from Claire's, to wearing too much eyeliner to the point where my dad started calling me a raccoon. I'd like to think my taste in makeup has matured as much as I have over the years.
I spent a lot of time this past year watching new youtubers and reading up on new beauty products. I really enjoy seeing what other people are using and swearing by. It truly opened up a door to a whole new world for me. I even started shopping at Sephora. As surprising as that sounds, Ulta was always my go to and I never would've imagine spending  $46 on a foundation. I've learned though that I'm spending my money on quality when before it was more about paying a small amount for quantity.
I started putting money away each week towards my makeup fund, as silly as that sounds. I make wish lists on whatever beauty website I'm on and from that I make my purchases. It makes buying it feel even more exciting and special. I know that I'm able to afford the products and that I'm buying something I've been wanting for a long time.
With that said, I've put together a few of my favorite products from this past year. Some are more recent finds and others are some I've been using almost the whole year.
I can't wait to see what 2018 has to offer!

I've always heard amazing things about this product. Now that I own it and have used it quite a bit of times, I totally understand where everyone was coming from. I use this as a setting spray and it gives off the most perfect, subtle glow. Plus, I know my makeup will stay in place throughout the whole day.

This is one of those holy grail products. I've always gone for a more full coverage base, so this was me taking a step out of my comfort zone. I'll post more later on, but since I was a teenager I've suffered from acne. It didn't last just through my teenage years, but it followed me well into my 20's. I visited dermatologists and without any luck decided to take things into my own hands. I started a whole new morning and nighttime skin care routine that has changed my skin so much. I can go out wearing this stuff and can be confident with how my skin looks. It is a truly a game changer for me.

This is definitely one of those cult beauty obsessions. This stuff literally erases all of my pores and gives the most perfect base for my foundation. It feels so silky and smooth, and feels so good on my skin.

Ughhh, what can I say about these two?! They are just sooo amazing! I feel like it took me so long to purchase both of these...that goes back to what I said about quality vs. quantity. I think I may favor the Nars creamy concealer just a smidge more. I love the glow that I leaves on my skin while still highlighting all the areas I want it to.

My love for this foundation is unlike any other. I have this baby in just about every shade that's somewhat similar to mine. Any girl who fake tans knows exactly what I mean. I have my super tan shades all the way down to my super pale shades. It goes on smooth and is so easy to blend. I first bought this to go away on vacation because I wanted something quick and easy to apply. The salesman at Sephora totally sold me on this and I'm so so so happy with it. It's hard for me to switch to anything else.

I honestly cannot see myself ever using another mascara. Actually, mine right now is running so low and has become so dry that I can barely use it, but I refuse to reach for any of my other mascaras. They just don't live up to what this one does. I only wear false lashes on special occasions, but wearing these gives that illusion of someone wearing false eyelashes.

I wouldn't say I'm an expert when it comes to makeup, so I was very hesitant at buying anything with the words "contour" in it. I decided to take the plunge when it was half off at Ulta, and I'm so happy I did! This gives someone such as myself a more subtle contour, but then if you're an expert at contouring you can build the color up. It's such a beautiful palette.

Unfortunately, I wasn't able to find a link to purchase this as it was part of Tarte's holiday collection. This was my first time trying out Tarte blushes, and oh my God! The colors and pigmentation are perfect! I'm so happy I purchased this and I'm looking forward to trying out more blushes, bronzers, and highlighters from Tarte.

This was one of my first purchases from Mac. I know, I know, it's pretty sad that I've only know just started exploring the wonderful world of MAC. The saleswoman at the counter recommended this highlighter to me. I told her that I was new to highlighters and I wanted something that offered a subtle glow, and boy does this deliver! I find myself always reaching for this highlighter day after day and I love the glow it gives to my skin.

Going through this list I'm a bit embarrassed at how many products I've just gotten into that everyone has been loving for years. Again, it took me so long to purchase this bronzer and now I can't see myself ever not using it. I try to picture how my life was before this bronzer and it's so hard to think about. This is just the most perfect bronzer that suits all different skin tones. It blends like a dream and the color is pure perfection.
